Hein Van de Geyn-Rony Verbiest

On the 20th of January 2008 a New Year's Concert has been scedulded in the Porgy en Bess jazz club with a concert of Hein Van de Geyn with two guests Rony Verbiest and Cyrille Carreon. The Porgy en Bess Jazz Club in Terneuzen, in the south west part of The Netherlands, celebrated last year her 50th birthday with a lot of concerts during the month of April. The past year 2007 was a year with great concerts and 2008 will bring a lot of memorable concerts too, I'm sure about that.
This season Hein Van de Geyn, professional bass player, founder of the group Baseline and involved in a lot of jazz productions, is the so-called Artist In Residence, which means that he will be the host in three concerts this season. In oktober 2007 he gave a concert with Pauline Van Schaik and on the 16th of March he is scedulded for a concert in Porgy en Bess with Walter Norris, a German piano player !!
Next Sunday, the 20th of January, Hein Van de Geyn will be on stage with Rony Verbiest and vocalist Cyrille Carreon.

I heard Heyn Van de Geyn before in concert with Pauline van Schaik, not at the oktober 2007 concert, but in December 2004. I found a small fragment where you can hear Hein Van de Geyn and Pauline Van Schaik in a concert.
Two years ago Hein Van de Geyn was part of the Two Portaits of Chet Baker concert with Fay Claassen , a great tribute to the musical heritage of Chet Baker. I remember his soft and gentle bass playing !!

Rony Verbiest is a regular guest of Porgy en Bess, but ..... unfortunally I haven't heard him playing. He will take his bandoneon this time and I found a small fragment where you can hear him on this Argentine instrument.
Cyrille Carreon is unknown to me - she is born in the Philippines and came to Holland as a little girl. She studied at the School of Music as a dancer, and became known for her part in the Musical Miss Saigon and The King and I. Nowadays she is very active in theater, as a producer, but she also likes to be active in jazz vocal.

Op 20 januari 2008 start in de Porgy en Bess jazz club een nieuw jaar met een concert van Hein Van de Geyn met twee gasten Rony Verbiest en Cyrille Carreon. De Porgy en Bess Jazz Club in Terneuzen vierde afgelopen jaar haar 50 jarig bestaan met in de maand april een feestavond en een heleboel bijzondere concerten. Ook 2008 zal weer veel moois opleveren !!
Dit seizoen is Hein Van De Geyn, professioneel bassist, oprichter van de groep Baseline en betrokken bij een heleboel jazzproducties, de zogenaamde Artist In Residence, wat betekent dat hij drie concerten mag samenstellen. In oktober 2007 gaf hij een concert met Pauline van Schaik en op 16 maart staat er een concert gepland met Walter Norris, een Duitse pianist.
Aanstaande zondag, 20 januari, heeft Hein Van de Geyn Rony Verbiest en zangeres Cyrille Carreon op het podium uitgenodigd.

Ik hoorde Heyn Van de Geyn eerder in Porgy en Bess tijdens een concert met Pauline van Schaik, niet het concert van oktober vorig jaar, maar in december 2004. Ik vond een kort fragment waarin je Hein Van de Geyn kunt horen in een optreden elders in den lande met Pauline Van Schaik.
Twee jaar geleden was Hein Van de Geyn de bassist tijdens het Two Portaits of Chet Baker concert met Fay Claassen , een eerbetoon aan de muziek van Chet Baker. Ik herinner vooral zijn subtiele basspel.

Rony Verbiest is een regelmatige gast in Porgy en Bess, maar, vreemdgenoeg ..... heb ik hem nog nooit horen spelen. Hij speelt bandoneon en ik vond een kort fragment warin je hem op dit Argentijnse instrument bezig kunt zien. Cyrille Carreon is voor mij de grote onbekende. Ze is geboren op de Filipijnen en kwam als kind naar Nederland. Ze studeerde aan het conservatorium dans, had muzieklessen en werd bekend vanwege haar rol in de musical Miss Saigon en The King And I. Tegenwoordig is ze vooral actief als producer van theater- en tvprogramma's achter de schermen, maar ze is nog steeds graag op het podium als jazzzangeres.
