In Pursuit

This CD has been released a few months ago, titled In Pursuit. It is a registration of a succesfull cooperation between Jesse Van Ruller and Bert Van Den Brink. I heard this duo in the Porgy en Bess Jazz Club in Terneuzen ( southwest part of the Netherlands) in September 2004- a special concert, because it was recorded to use for this release. The recordings in Porgy en Bess Jazz Club weren't good enough to use for this great release, so the tracks for this CD were recorded in Austerlitz and Haarlem May - June 2006.

Jesse van Ruller, a regular visitor of the Porgy en Bess Jazz Club is a young, promising guitar player. In 1995 he won the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington and since that time he grew to a skilled professional guitar player.

Bert Van Den Brink has been discussed in this web log a month ago, due to the fact that he won the VPRO/Boy Edgar Price . Although he was born visual disabled he developed to a skilled piano player.

It was fasinating to see how these two men, not able to communicate visual, made such a coherent concert on stage.


I found a fragment of their performance from a concert to illustrate their music.

Jesse Van Ruller and Bert Van Den Brink were in the Far East, Japan and South Korea last week to promote this CD - they must be back by now.

This CD, the first one released by AJA Records ( Amsterdam Jazz Agency ) is great and I love to congratulate Eline with this first release. I'd advice you, even if you haven't seen the concert, to obtain a copy.

Deze CD is nog maar een paar maanden uit en heet In Pursuit. Het is de registratie van een geslaagde samenwerking tussen Jesse van Ruller en Bert van den Brink. Ik hoorde hen spelen in de Porgy en Bess Jazzclub in Terneuzen in september 2004 tijdens een speciale serie concert, waarin Jesse van Ruller Artist Of Residence was. Bovendien werd het concert opgenomen.

Helaas bleken de opnamen in Porgy en Bess Jazz Club niet goed genoeg om tot een CD uitgave te komen, zodat de opnamen van deze CD later gemaakt werden in Austerlitz en Haarlem in mei-juni 2006.

Jesse van Ruller, een regelmatige bezoeker van Porgy en Bess Jazz Club, is een jonge veelbelovende gitaarspeler. In 1995 won hij de Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington en vanaf die tijd is hij uitgegroeid tot een ervaren professionele gitarist.

Bert Van Den Brink is onlangs nog het onderwerp in één van mijn Keep swinging web log geweest, omdat hij vorige maand de VPRO/Boy Edgar Prijs won. Hoewel hij geboren werd met een visuele handicap groeide hij uit tot een ervaren pianist.


De samenhang op het podium tussen Jesse en Bert herinner ik me als heel bijzonder, aangezien ze tijdens het spelen geen oogcontact kunnen maken.

Ik vond en fragment waarin jullie een stuk van een concert kunnen bekijken.

Jesse Van Ruller en Bert Van Den Brink waren afgelopen week in het Verre Oosten, Japan en Zuid Korea, om hun CD te promoten - ze zullen nu al wel weer thuis zijn.

Deze CD is de eerste uitgebracht op het AJA label ( Amsterdam Jazz Agency) en ik wens Eline dan ook alle succes met deze uitgave. Kopen die CD !!.
