Felix the Cat

The Van Beuren cartoon, Felix The Cat and the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, was released 7 February 1936 - time to excavate this 71 years old archeological treasure from the archives.
Felix the Cat was created by Pat Sullivan in 1919 when he got a small spot in Feline Follies. The peope who saw the black spot with a tail in this small fragment loved the creature and soon Felix became a star. A lot of films were made from him between 1925 and 1929, all in black and white of course and all without sound. In 1933 Pat Sullivan, its originator, died.
In 1936 he got a comeback by a small series of colour films, created by Burt Gilett, titled Felix The Cat and the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, Neptune Nonsense and Bold King Cole. I found the first one in this series for you, and love to share it with you:

80: 7 February 1927: Oh Lizzie -143447-3 University SixDe Van Beuren cartoon, Felix The Cat and the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, werd op 7 februari 1936 uitgebracht - hoogste tijd om hem weer eens uit de archieven op te graven. Felix the Cat werd bedacht door Pat Sullivan in 1919, eigenlijk per ongeluk, toen hij bezig was voor de film Feline Follies. De mensen, die de film zagen, hielden van het zwarte vlekje met de staart en al snel werd Felix een ster. Er werden vele films gemaakt tusen 1925 en 1929, allemaal uiteraard in zwart wit en nog zonder geluid. In 1933 stierf Pat Sullivan, de geestelijk vader van Felix.
In 1936 begon een bescheiden comeback met een serie van drie kleurenfilms gemaakt door Burt Gilett, getiteld Felix The Cat and the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, Neptune Nonsense en Bold KIng Cole. Ik vond de eerst genoemde film en wil die graag laten zien.
