Frank Morgan - Peace + Love

A month ago Frank Morgan visited The Netherlands and played during a short tour with the Rein De Graaff Trio in the Porgy & Bess Jazz Club in Terneuzen in the southwest part of the Netherlands. The pictures in this contribution are from that concert. In a previous blog I wrote about this concert: Frank Morgan, almost 74 years old, played the alto saxophone like a young God, with white sneakers and new blue jeans, sitting on a stool. Even before the concert actually started, Frank Morgan was settled on stage, ready to take off, a glass of wine and a carafe ice water near at hand on his own stage table. Rein, Rein, when do we start?

At the end of the concert he thanked the audience with his eyes shone with pleasure. I asked him for an autograph while he was shuffling his bag to find a cigarette. Peace + Love he wrote .....
When I left the Porgy & Bess Jazz Club he still sat on his stool ..... all alone ... as if he was ready to take of for a third set ..... as if he couldn't say good-bye !!
Peace +Love

Nederlands ( To the English translation )

Peace + Love

Thank you for creating such a beautiful tribute to Frank Morgan. I only heard his serene saxophone for the first time on Sunday 2 August 2009 but I've already bought 2 CDs. What a master of his art, so sorry that he has slipped away into another room. Lesley, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England
