The CD production Rose Road - City Lines was produced and released by composer Douwe Eisenga. Douwe Eisenga lives in Middelburg ( southwest part of the Netherlands) and studied at the Groningen conservatory. He made composition for the well known Xenakis Ensemble. He attracted attention with his piece for choir and orchestra, Requiem 1953, composed in commemoration for the great 1953 flood, wich inundated large parts of Zeeland, the region in the south west of the Netherlands.
His recent production Rose Road - City Lines wasn't unnoticed by the national and local music critics. The Stentor, a news paper that is released in the center of the Netherlands, describes Douwe as a typically cross-over figure, pop and jazz are elements to be find in his style of music. It is difficult to label Douwes compositions in a certain style. All kinds of elements used in other music styles are to be found on this CD. His compositions have been executed at concerts of the Stichting Nieuwe Muziek Zeeland, a foundation that wants to spread the new contemporary music styles to the public. The concerts, in the early days in the Schouwburg of Middelburg and later the Nieuwe Doelen, are now scedulded in the Grote Kerk of Veere, a beautiful venue for this kind of contemporary music.
My first experiences with the Nieuwe Muziek concerts dates from the 1960s when my brother and I drove by Puch moped from ouir home town Hoedekenskerke to the Schouwburg in Middelburg to enjoy concerts of Willem Breuker, Hans Dulfer, Willem van Manen, Theo Loevendie Consort, Misha Mengelberg, Han Bennink and the Instant Composers Pool.

Hij trok de aandacht met een grote composite voor koor en orkest, getiteld Requiem 1953, gemaakt ter gelegenheid van de herdenking van de Februari ramp in 1953, waarbij grote delen van Zeeland overstroomden.
Zijn laatste productie Rose Road - City Lines bleef ook niet onopgemerkt in de landelijke- en regionale pers. In de Stentor, een regionaal dagblad dat in het midden van Nederland verschijnt, wordt Douwe een typische cross-over figuur genoemd, iemand die pop en jazz elementen gebruikt in zijn composities. Het is moeilijk om zijn muziek in een stijl te vangen. allerlei elementen, gehaald uit allerlei muziekstijlen, zijn terug te vinden op deze CD. Zijn composities zijn uitgevoerd op concerten georganiseerd door de Stichting Nieuwe Muziek Zeeland, een stichting, die de nieuwe hedendaagse muziek onder de aandacht van de mensen wil brengen. De concerten, vroeger in de Schouwburg van Middelburg, later in de Nieuwe Doelen, worden tegenwoordig uitgevoerd in de Nieuwe Kerk in Veere, een schitterend podium voor deze hedendaagse klanken.
Mijn eerste ervaringen met de Nieuwe Muziek concerten dateren uit de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw, toen ik met mijn broer op de Puch brommer vanuit Hoedekenskerke naar de Schouwburg in Middelburg reed om de concerten van Willem Breuker, Hans Dulfer, Willem van Manen, Theo Loevendie Consort, Misha Mengelberg, Han Bennink en de Instant Composers Pool te gaan beluisteren.
