I found an interesting picture that was titled Oscar Aleman - Uñero and it looks like a kind of ring. As my knowledge of the Spanish language is marginal I used the Español-Ingéls Diccionario and learned that the word Uñero has several meanings: 1. Whitlow. 2. Ingrowing toenail 3. Thumb notch. (How did he come up with such things? Find out yourself, I'd suggest !!). None of it seems suitable with this image. Even my always-on-the-other-side-of-the-line Argentine friend and oracle Luis didn't knew the word. The word Uñeta, however, means in Chile plectrum, so we decided that this ring should be the thumb plectrum of Oscar Aleman

To prove our point I enlarged part of the first image, where you can see Oscar Aleman playing his guitar. You can see the plectrum or Uñero around the thumb of his right hand.

I love to share with you two fragments found on YouTube Jo posted recently as a contribution titled Picture Homage To Oscar Aleman . It shows fragments of films, pictures and music as made by Oscar Aleman and gives you a good idea about his career and life, although it goes without any commend. The music you hear is Besame Mucho and Tentacion, both recorded in Buenos Aires, September 1943 by Oscar Aleman y su Quinteto de Swing, featuring Oscar Aleman on dobro guitar and vocal ( on Besame Mucho), Manuel Gavinovich violin, Rogelio Robledo piano, Oscar Guillermo Barbieri guitar, Luis Gavinovich bass and Ramón M. Caravaca drums. Enjoy it

Oscar Aleman, de Argentijnse gitarist, heeft een speciaal plekje in ons hart. Als je de Keep swinging web log regelmatig bezoekt ( en waarom zou je daar geen goeie gewoonte van maken? Het is altijd verrassend, interessant en gratis) dan weet je dat al lang. Met de Oscar Aleman web log en websites hopen we bewonderaars van zijn muziek te boeien en te informeren. In de online Oscar Aleman discography kunnen verzamelaars informatie zoeken over hun Oscar Aleman's gramofoonplaten. En als er nieuws is over Oscar Aleman lees je het hier !! Ik vond een intrigerende foto getiteld Oscar Aleman - Uñero en het voorwerp lijkt een soort ring. Aangezien mijn kennis van de Spaanse taal marginaal is, heb ik het Español-Ingéls Diccionario geraadpleegd en begreep ik dat het woord Uñero verschillende betekenissen heeft: 1. Fijt. 2. Ingegroeide teennagel 3. Duim index ( zoals je soms ziet bij Bijbeltjes). Toegegeven - deze wat gezochte betekenissen verzin je niet zomaar - zoek het zelf maar op !! Geen van deze betekenissen lijkt te kloppen en zelfs mijn altijd-aan-de-andere-kant-van-de-lijn Argentijnse vriend en vraagbaak Luis kende het woord niet. Wel vond ik, dat het woord Uñeta in Chili gebruikt wordt voor plectrum, dus denken we dat Uñero bargoens is voor een plectrum. Om te bewijzen dat we gelijk hebben heb ik de foto van Oscar Aleman met de gitaar voor een deel uitvergroot. Als je goed kijkt zie je de uñero om Oscar's rechter duim. De foto is dus het duimplectrum van Oscar Alemán. Ik vind het leuk om twee fragmenten te laten zien, die Jo op YouTube vond en eerder deze week postte als Picture Homage To Oscar Aleman . Het laat filmfragmenten, foto's en muziek zien en horen uit het leven van Oscar Aleman. Helaas wordt er geen commentaar bijgegeven, wel worden er twee nummers van Oscar Aleman toegevoegd. De muziek die je hoort zijn de nummers Besame Mucho en Tentacion, beide opgenomen in Buenos Aires in september 1943 door Oscar Aleman y su Quinteto de Swing, met daarin Oscar Aleman op dobro gitaar en zang op Besame Mucho, Manuel Gavinovich viool, Rogelio Robledo piano, Oscar Guillermo Barbieri gitaar, Luis Gavinovich bas en Ramón M. Caravaca slagwerk. Veel plezier er mee.
