Duo Conversation

Duo Conversation is the title of a CD I recently found recorded by Leonardo Amuedo and Marcel Serierse. ( CRIS CRAZZ Records CCR 039). It contains 14 tracks, most of the tracks are own compositions. Leonardo Amuedo plays the guitar and Marcel Serierse is a percussionist.
Leonaro Amuedo is a South American guitar player. There is but few information in the liner notes of the album and his website isn't active. I guess he's from Argentina, but active in the Netherlands, as he is the producer of bands like The Rosenberg Trio and part of the band that accompanies Paul Van Vliet, a known Dutch entertainer, on stage. Marcel Serierse is drummer and plays in a lot of ensembles like the Rosenberg Trio, Laura Fygi and several Dutch pop singers like Ben Cramer and Albert West and the Dutch crooner, the Rotterdam-born Frank Sinatra Lee Towers. He is the son of Koos Serierse, the drummer that made a career at the Rein De Graaff Trio for years. 
The most famous part of the Traditional Jazz Festival at Breda was always the Duo Specials, concerts between two jazz musicians, with different types of instruments. These concerts were great events. Two musicians who have to perform together, have to listen and react and such a duo performing is jazz in the most pure form. I thought about these concerts while listening to this CD.

Duo Conversation is de titel van een CD die ik bij toeval ontdekte, opgenomen door Leonardo Amuedo en Marcel Serierse. ( CRIS CRAZZ Records CCR 039). Het bevat 14 nummers, bijna alemaal eigen composities. Leonardo Amuedo speelt gitaar en Marcel Serierse is slagwerker.
Leonaro Amuedo is een Zuidamerikaanse gitarist. De hoestekst van de CD geeft maar weinig informatie en de website van Amuedo werkt niet. Ik vermoed dat hij in Argentinië geboren is en momenteel veel in Nederland werkt, aangezien hij optreedt als producer bij het Rosenberg Trio en deel is van de begeleidingsband van Paul van Vliet. Marcel Serierse is drummer en speelt in een heleboel groepen en begeleidingsorkestjes, zoals bij het Rosenberg Trio, als begeleiding bij Laura Fygi en enkele Nederlandse populaire zangers als Ben Cramer en Albert West en onze zingende Rotterdamse Frank Sinatra Lee Towers. Hij is de zoon van Koos Serierse, vroeger bassist bij het Rein De Graaff Trio. Tijdens het Oude Stijl Jazzfestival in Breda zijn de Duo Specials één van de populairste onderdelen en niet onterecht. De Duo Specials waren concerten waarbij twee muzikanten met verschillende instrumenten samen optraden. Vaak hadden ze nooit samengespeeld en dat resulteerde in prachtige concerten; eigenlijk is een duo de meest pure vorm van jazzmuziek maken. Daaraan deed deze CD me denken.
