Raymond Guiot

( Naar de Nederlandse vertaling.)

There are records that remind you to a previous period in your personal musical development.

The LP Haendel With Care played by the Raymond Guiot Quintette is such an item. I found it in the legacy of Jan H. , a bunch of records I received when I visited Germany a few month ago.

Raymond Guiot , born in 1930, is a French composer, and flute player in the so-called Neo-classiques styles.
In the 1950s and 1960s he popularized classical compositions to a kind of jazz influenced pop-music. He made records filled with compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach ( I Like Johann Sebastian ) or Georg Friedrich Händel ( Haendel With Care).
In the Netherlands we had musicians like Thijs Van Leer, Chris Hinze and Louis Van Dyke who popularized this kind of music. I remember the records of the Rondo Veneziano too.
In the USA the Modern Jazz Quartet made this kind of music.

Daniel Humair

The record Haendel With Care and the other one I Like Johann Sebastian ( both German pressings on Ariola) contain 16 tracks with parts of orchestral compositions by Händel or Bach played by the Raymond Guiot Quintette / Quartette, featuring some leading French jazz artists like Guy Pedersen on bass and Daniel Humair on drums. Michel Hausser is at the vibes. Georges Wertz plays the cymbal on the Händel LP.

The music sounds nowadays very smoothly, dated and arranged in my ears, but I'll keep both LPs as a remembrance of a period in my musical development passed by.

Maybe someone can tell me what the recording dates of these LPs are?

Nederlands ( To the English translation )

Daniel Humair

Vanessa Mae recently did a piece with her violin. You can find this on youtube.
I have some great memories and enjoyed listening to Bach street. The lp has a large scratch. Would be interested in a ditigal recording.
