Close Farmony

Today, the first of April, April Fools' Day, is traditionally, the day to make a fool of someone. I won't do that today. I only love to share a musical comedy, titled Close Farmony, (...no, really with a F) a very weird one reeler dated early 1930s. It is the first appearance on film by the Boswell Sisters at a very remarkable location. Well, the film tells his own story - I was really astonished seeing this film. Did you ever saw a musical haystack?
I guess: Cattle and jazz must have something in common. Why not giving more jazz concerts at the farm? Well, now I understand the Talking Cows clip better !!

Vandaag, één april, de dag om bij de neus genomen te worden, de dag bij uitstek om eens iemand voor de gek te houden. Ik doe daar natuurlijk niet aan mee. Toch wil ik vandaag een korte muzikale komedie laten zien, getiteld Close Farmony ( .... nee, met een F ), een heel bijzondere korte film uit de begin jaren dertig. Het is het eerste optreden van de Boswell Sisters op film op een wel heel ongebruikelijke plaats. De film hoeft geen uitleg - die vertelt zijn eigen verhaal. Ooit een muzikale hooibaal gezien?

Yiii-hah-ee! I like this kind of mu(h)sic - sure enough. Take a piece of good advice from the countryside to avoid stress on the farm: Count sheep 'till the cows come home ...!
