David Buckingham

A few days ago I received the first CD of David Buckingham. This CD is titled The View and was released by the Támesis label ( TAMCD001-0506 ). It is David's debut album. David was born in Southend-on-Sea, Great Britain and learned to play the classical guitar as a kid. He won his first award at a contest at the age of ten. Ten years ago he studied the classical and jazz guitar styles at the Leeds College of Music. He specialized later in Sevilla in the Flamenco jazz. This album contains solo pieces and own compositions played on his guitar, like Chiemsee and Wonderful Tonight. I found two film fragments of both songs played by David Buckingham, I love to share with you.

Other tracks on this album are with the Flamenco guitar player Manuel Barraquero and Marco Vargas, a Taconeo, the Spanish word for a Flamenco dancer. Other accompanists are Nic France who is reponsable for the percussion on several tracks and vocalist Claire Furley. In the title song, The View, and the composition Agua Clara David Buckingham is accompanied by the Argentinean Tango singer Guillermo Rozenthuler. Great music in my opinion.

For me this album is a great addition to my collection, especially to play during the dark winter evenings. On his website he raises the veil about his second album, which will be featuring great names like blues singer Sam Payne, percussionist Karo Sampela and the vocalists Claire Furley and Fran Cortés.

Een paar dagen geleden ontving ik de eerste CD van David Buckingham. Deze plaat is getiteld The View en werd onlangs uitgebracht op het Támesis- label ( TAMCD001-0506 ). Het is David's debuut album. David Buckingham werd geboren in Southend-on-Sea, (GB) en leerde de klassieke gitaar bespelen. Al op zijn tiende won hij een talentenjacht. Hij studeerde tien jaar geleden aan het Leeds College of Music klassieke en jazzgitaar. Hij specialiseerde zich in Sevilla (Spanje) in de Flamenco Jazz. Op deze plaat staan solonummers en composities, die hij alleen of met een drummer, vertolkt. Twee nummers van de plaat zijn Chiemsee en Wonderful Tonight. Deze twee nummers vond ik als filmfragment en wil ik jullie graag laten zien.

Andere nummers op dit album zijn met de Flamenco gitarist Manuel Barraquero en met Marco Vargas, een zgn. Taconeo, het Spaanse woord voor een Flamenco danser. Andere begeleiders zijn Nic France, die op verschillende nummers het slagwerk bespeelt en zangeres Claire Furley. In het titelnummer The View, en de compositie Agua Clara speelt David Buckingham met de Argentijnse tango zanger Guillermo Rozenthuler. Prachtige muziek.

Als je zo langzamerhand nieuwsgierig bent geworden naar de muziek bezoek dan eens David Buckingham's schitterende website, waar je zijn muziek kan beluisteren. Deze plaat is een mooie aanvulling van mijn verzameling, echt zo'n plaat voor de lange winteravonden. Op zijn website licht David al vast een tip van de sluiter op over zijn volgende plaat, die hij gaat maken met blueszangeres Sam Payne, slagwerker Karo Sampela en Claire Furley en Fran Cortés, die beiden zingen.
Ik wil afsluiten met een ander fragment, waarin je kunt luisteren en kijken naar David Buckingham en Marco Vargas tijdens een optreden dat gehouden werd in San José de la Rinxonada, Sevilla (Spanje). Genieten !!
