On the 10th of February 2008 Georg Lankester presents his new book, titled The History of the Swing-Musette and the role of guitarist Django Reinhardt at the Festival Het Accordeon in Deventer. The English version will be available soon.
For many decades I have been studying the music of Django Reinhardt (1910 – 1953) and French pre-war jazz. That’s how I became familiar with the popular French Musette style. I set about gathering more details about its origin and followed further development (other instruments and jazz influences) which eventually brought the Swing Musette. 
Read the stories about the key accordionists and their great accompanists (like the Ferret brothers). A condensed discography is included for those interested.

Om er een goed beeld van te krijgen ben ik teruggegaan tot de oorsprong (vele eeuwen terug). Vervolgens heb ik mij verdiept in de ontwikkeling van die typisch Parijse volksmuziek, aangezien o.a. door jazz-invloeden andere instrumenten opkwamen en later ook de swing zijn intrede deed.
Ik neem de lezer mee naar de ster-accordeonisten van vroeger en hun beroemde begeleiders (zoals bijv. de gebroeders Ferret). En u vindt er een compacte discografie in voor diegenen die geïnteresseerd zijn in bepaalde opnamen.

Le dimanche le 10ème février 2008 Georg Lankester présente son nouveau livre, intitulé en Anglais : De Geschiedenis van de (Swing) Musette en de rol van gitarist Django Reinhardt. ( = L’histoire du Swing Musette et le rôle du guitariste Django Reinhardt ) au Festival Het Accordeon dans Deventer (Les Pays Bas). La version anglaise sera disponible bientôt.
Pendant beaucoup d’années je me suis specialisé dans le jazz français d’avant-guerre et notamment dans la musique de Django Reinhardt (1910 – 1953). De cette façon je faissais connaissance du Musette, la musique française si populaire.
Je me suis approfondi dans l’origine et ensuite dans l’évolution, c’est á direle changement de l’instrumentation et l’influence du jazz naissant, des facteursqui ont finalement créé le Swing Musette.
Le livre donne information sur les vedettes de l’accordéon, les grands accompagnateurs (comme les fréres Ferret) ainsi que quelques renseignements discographiques.
